Jomana Baddad

Design Director

Jomana is an architect and designer with experience spanning over a decade. She has worked in architectural practices in Jordan, USA and Switzerland. She deals with Architectural Design, Heritage Interpretation, Antidisciplinary Research, Digital Design and Fabrication as well as Urban design and Regeneration. The work she produced through her professional practice varies to include: designing buildings, complex large scale developments especially in the Arabian gulf region, post-disaster planning, management of heritage & interpretation strategies and design, multi-stakeholder projects, and recently digital fabrication of circular materials. Jomana has studied architecture at the University of Jordan, Master of Architecture and Urban Design at the Pratt Institute in New York, and Master of advanced studies in Architecture and Digital Fabrication at ETH Zurich in Switzerland. She has received several honors including the Engineering for Development scholarship (ETH4D) in 2019, the Fulbright scholarship in 2015, and the Jordanian Ministry of education distinction award in 2011. Jomana’s professional practice has motivated her research and vice versa. Recently, at the institute of technology for architecture (ITA) in Zurich she researched and implemented digital design & fabrication of circular materials. Her research interests include: Low-Tech & High-Tech fabrication, digital design of circular materials, looking at ways to expand its applications and upgrade its performance. Jomana is the design director at Turath Architects & Urban designers in Jordan leading a diverse cultural and natural heritage projects in the middle east. Currently and together with a collective of pioneer designers across Europe & Asia, Jomana is starting-up Artifica; a platform for architecture & technology.
